I'm starting a new SideFX Houdini blog with the primary focus on vex and scripting, as an FX-TD there is literally nothing I enjoy more than coming up with wildly impractical, over-engineered solutions to mundane everyday problems so I decided to start a blog where I upload detailed tutorials, snippets of R&D work, brainteasers and fun little projects in the hope that I can share some knowledge, and show off some cool stuff!
Most of my posts are going to be fairly straightforward and self-contained but I thought it would be a good idea to give a rough outline of what I will and won't cover in my posts, I am expecting most people who visit this site to have at least a passing acquaintance with Houdini as well as at least a basic understanding of scripting and programming.
Whilst I won't be going over the very basics such as what a float or an integer is I will start off with an overview of VEX, how it operates inside of Houdini, what it can do, what it can't do, and the basics of syntax. From there it will just be regular posts with cool little setups designed to either show off some of VEX's awesome power or to solve particular issues.
I hope you will find something useful in here and please let me know what you think.
